Our Saturday started off with a brunch baby shower to welcome James’ friends Brian and Devan’s little girl Blake. Landon slept most of the party and got to meet a bunch of Daddy’s friends.
I’m glad Landon got to meet so many friends today.
Landon had his first official doctor visit today and no shots were involved…yay! I was nervous because I wanted to make sure he was gaining weight so I didn’t have to supplement. Turns out he gained 2 lbs since his last visit for jaundice. Landon now weighs 10 lbs and is 20 inches long (either he shrunk from birth or all the nurses measure differently). Needless to say he gained enough weight which means he is nursing just fine. His belly button looks funny because he has a hernia but the doctor said it would go away in a couple of months. He needs to do tummy time for 10-15 mins a day and we no longer have to wake him up every 2 hours to eat. Other than that Landon is a healthy baby and we couldn’t be happier!
Today we decided to venture out of the house and take our first outing as a family of four. Landon made it all the way to Long Beach before realizing he was hungry. I nursed him in the parking lot before heading in. After he nursed I put him in the carrier (we didn’t bring a stroller since the aquarium is small). All the moving made Landon spit up all over me and him. So then we had to change his outfit and I was stuck smelling like breast milk for the rest of the day (I forgot I also need to pack and extra shirt for myself). We finally made it into the aquarium. Landon pretty much slept the whole time which is why we have very few pictures of him. I nursed him before we headed home. He made it to Corona before crying and then fell back asleep. Overall it was a successful outing.
I’m excited it only took a week to get back the photos from Landon’s photo shoot. I’m in love with them and think so many came out cute! My goal was to have 5 cute pictures from the day and I ended up with almost 40! Landon was a trooper and helped the day go smoothly. Here are some of my favorites:
Originally Dana and Valerie were going to come visit today but Dana got sick and didn’t want to get Landon sick so we had to reschedule. So Tia Lindsey and Uncle Matt came by to visit. Then Aunt Polly, Uncle Kurt, and Cole came by to bring James some tools. Aunt Polly brought stuff for sandwiches and fed everyone lunch. Gigi and Papa came by after breakfast. Kody and Auntie Madi also stopped by. James friend David stopped by to visit and meet Landon too. Lastly, Paige and Amanda came by after work. We ended up with a full house! I love having a house big enough to accommodate everyone and have Landon loved by so many people.
Landon is two weeks old today. It’s crazy to think we have been a family of four for that long already. I’m very thankful James is off for the summer because he has been a huge help with both kids. Landon is a pretty easy baby so far. He nurses every two hours and likes to constantly move. Most of the time he can fall asleep on his own in the swing. A few nights he even slept in the bassinet. He stopped crying every time we change his diaper which is a big relief. He also doesn’t cry as much when we put him in the car seat like he was a week ago. My favorite things that he does are hold my finger while nursing and how he falls asleep with his hand on his chest. We tried two week pictures today but they were a disaster. Landon kept wiggling and was hungry so it is what it is. I need to find a better solution before he turns a month old.
Although Landon’s umbilical cord hasn’t completely fallen off I decided to give him a bath tonight after he had a blow out diaper. He hated the bath at first until I started pouring warm water over his head to rinse out the shampoo. He didn’t even mind water in his face. Luckily Aunt Polly bought him some “boy” bath towels so he didn’t have to wrap up in a pink towel.
